Scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate students are available for the 2014 – 2015 school year.

JACINTO QUIRARTE ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART HISTORY (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: One or more awards to graduate or undergraduate students; amount varies
Graduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (9 hours) as a graduate student actively pursuing a MA degree in Art History.
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline or complete appropriate degree by the beginning of graduate level enrollment period.

Undergraduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours) and actively pursuing a BA degree in Art History and meet/exceed undergraduate admission standards
  • Have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above

ART GUYS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: One or more awards to graduate or undergraduate students; amount varies
Graduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (9 hours) and meet or exceed The University’s graduate-level admission standards as defined by the Graduate School and Department
  • Be actively pursuing a MFA degree in the fine arts studio disciplines defined as; new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline or complete appropriate degree by the beginning of graduate level enrollment period.

 Undergraduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours) and actively pursuing a BA degree in art
  • Have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above

JAMES A. AND CINDY G. BRODERICK ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART AND ART HISTORY (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours for undergraduate students and 9 hours for graduate students)
  • Must have minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in his/her major and be enrolled at UTSA at time of application

CHARLES AND GERMAINE FIELD ENDOWED PAINTING SCHOLARSHIP (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Be enrolled full time (12 hours for undergrads and 9 hours for grads) and actively pursuing an BFA or MFA degree with an emphasis in painting
  • Demonstrate outstanding artwork through presentation of your portfolio or slide portfolio. Clear evidence of technical proficiency and distinctive personal aesthetic in the artworks must be presented.
  • Demonstrate evidence of excellence in previous art courses and potential for future success, as demonstrated by faculty recommendations, portfolio and grades.
  • (Graduate applicants) Demonstrate evidence of strong preparation for successful graduate study in art as evidenced by excellent grades earned in previous art courses as well as in any documentary records of exhibitions, commissions or other related professional achievements.
  •  (Undergraduate applicants) Have reached upper-division status (at least 60 semester hours)

SUE JOCKUSCH ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

Graduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a  full-time basis (9 hours) and actively pursuing a MFA degree in fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture AND/OR be accepted and enrolled on a full-time basis as a graduate student actively pursuing a MA degree in Art History.
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline or complete appropriate degree by the beginning of graduate level enrollment period.
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 3.0 grade point average.

Undergraduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours) and actively pursuing an BFA or BA degree in art fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture AND/OR be accepted and enrolled on a full-time basis as an undergraduate student actively pursuing a BA degree in Art History and meet or exceed undergraduate admission standards
  • Maintain a minimum cumulative 2.5 grade point average

STEVE REYNOLDS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART AND ART HISTORY (Undergraduate or Graduate)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

Graduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (9 hours) and be actively pursuing a MFA degree in fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics (preference), new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline or complete appropriate degree by the beginning of graduate level enrollment period.

Undergraduate students must:

  • Be enrolled on a full-time basis (12 hours) and actively pursuing an BA degree in art (ceramics applicants given preference)
  • Have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or above and meet or exceed undergraduate admission standards

ELTON SMITH MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART (Undergraduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be an undergraduate students actively pursuing a BFA or BA in the fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture
  • Must be enrolled on a fulltime basis (12 hours) during award year and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA

Gloria Galt Endowed Scholarship in Art (Undergraduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be an undergraduate students actively pursuing a BFA or BA in the fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture
  • Must be enrolled on a fulltime basis (12 hours) during award year and must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA

ANGELIKA JANSEN-BROWN AND ROBERT BROWN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART (Grad Only)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary. *This is a non-renewable scholarship, but previous applicants are encouraged to re-apply.

  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 semester hours)
  • Must demonstrate outstanding artwork through presentation of your portfolio or slide portfolio, clear evidence of technical proficiency and distinctive personal aesthetic in the arts and evidence of potential to solve contemporary problems in aspects of the visual arts.
  • Must demonstrate excellent grades in previous art courses, as well as accomplishments evidenced by any documentary records of exhibitions, commissions or other related professional achievements

PEGGY AND RICHARD CALVERT ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP (Graduate Only)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 9 hours) and actively pursuing a MFA degree
  • Must demonstrate outstanding artwork through presentation of your slide portfolio. Clear evidence of technical proficiency and a distinctive personal aesthetic in the artworks must be presented.
  • Must submit demonstrate evidence of your potential to solve contemporary problems in aspects of the visual arts
  • Must submit demonstrate evidence of strong preparation for successful graduate study in Art as evidenced by excellent grades earned in previous art courses as well as in any documentary records of exhibitions, commissions or other related professional achievements

BILL MATUSOFF MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART AND ART HISTORY (Graduate Only)

Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Be enrolled full-time (at least 9 semester hours) and actively pursuing a MFA or MA degree in art or art history at UTSA. Award will alternate each year between fine arts majors and art history majors. The 2014-2015 award will be to an art history major.
  • Meet/exceed The University’s graduate-level admission standards as defined by Graduate School and Department and be in good academic standing
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline or complete appropriate degree by the beginning of graduate level enrollment period.

MARCIA GYGLI KING ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART (Graduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 9 hours) and actively pursuing a MFA degree
  • Must be a graduate student actively pursuing an MFA degree in fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, or sculpture
  • Hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline and must provide evidence that the appropriate degree will be completed by the start date of the first semester of the graduate level enrollment period.

MARIANNE C. AND STEWART R. REUTER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ART (Graduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 semester hours) and actively pursuing a MFA degree in the Department of Art and Art History
  • Must meet or exceed The University’s graduate-level admission standards as defined by Graduate School and Department
  • Be actively pursuing a MFA degree in the fine arts studio disciplines defined as; ceramics, new media, painting, drawing, photography, print making or sculpture
  • Must hold a BA or BFA degree in art or a related discipline and must provide evidence that the appropriate degree will be completed by the start date of the first semester of the graduate level enrollment period

HERMAN AND JOANN WIGODSKY SCHOLARSHIP IN ART (Graduate Only)

Award: $1,000/yr ($500 each semester)

  • Must be enrolled full-time (at least 9 semester hours) and actively pursuing a graduate degree in art or art history at UTSA
  • Must demonstrate outstanding research, or clear evidence of technical proficiency, distinctive personal aesthetic in the arts and evidence of potential to solve contemporary problems in aspects of the visual arts in your artwork
  • Must demonstrate excellent grades in previous art history or art courses, as well as accomplishments evidenced by any documentary records of exhibitions, commissions or other related professional achievements

Master of Fine Arts Presidential Assistantship(Graduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be a graduate student actively pursuing a MFA in fine arts studio disciplines defined as: Ceramics, New Media, Painting, Drawing, Photography, Printmaking, or Sculpture OR pursuing an MA degree in Art History
  • Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum of 9 hours) during award year unless in final semester before graduation
  • Must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Be able to provide the minimum hours of service in the department

The James Edward Flinn Annual Scholarship in Photography (Graduate Only)

Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be a graduate student pursuing an MFA in photography
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 hours and have and maintain a 3.0 GPA
